News about the upcoming release of the Iconia Tab A100 tablet in Europe and Australia have already surfaced, but few have expected for the device to hit shelves this week in America. It appears that online retailer SuperBiiz has the item in stock, which is now available for purchase for $349.99, including free shipping.

After numerous promises and delays, Acer is quietly launching the Iconia Tab A100 in United States, though it’s unclear why other major retailers in the country have yet to receive the tablet. Iconia Tab A100 is expected to make its debut in Europe by the end of the month, while Aussie customers will be able to get it in September.

The tablet is powered by the latest build of Google’s Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system and features Acer’s proprietary user interface, which can be disabled anytime.

With a 7-inch WSVGA capacitive touchscreen that supports 16 million colors and 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, Iconia Tab A100 weighs only 410g (battery included). One of the strong points of the Iconia Tab A100 is NVIDIA’s dual-core Tegra 2 processor clocked at 1Ghz, which puts it among the most powerful 7-inch tablets available on the market.

Furthermore, the device packs 512 MB RAM, 8GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). Other highlights of the tablet include: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity and Wi-Fi hotspot capability, accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, Gyro sensor, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP support, and microUSB and HDMI ports.

Acer Iconia Tab A100 sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording capabilities, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls. According to the latest hearsay, Iconia Tab A100 is price at €299 for the WiFi-only version and €399 for the model with 3G support, also known as Iconia Tab A101.
