Sony Insurer, after PSN Hack

Sony Insurer Does Not Want to Pay Off Legal Claims after PSN Hack. Zurich American claimed that according to documents it is liable for claims asserted in the class-action lawsuits, miscellaneous claims, or potential future actions made by any state attorney general. This is regarding the issue of cyberinsurance or whether Sony suffered real-world, physical damage to an attack that took place online.

Zurich American, which is a unit of Zurich Financial Services, also filed lawsuits against Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, ACE Ltd, and AIG. It wants the court to clarify its responsibilities under several insurance policies they issued for Sony.

There are reports that stated that Sony would defend itself against the 55 separate lawsuits, which were filed right after the hack. It is still unknown who or what organization was responsible for the breach into the PlayStation Network. It was offline for four weeks and needed to have an additional two weeks to have the full network back online.
